1 tonne of PVC-U conversion to window profile = 820kwh = 0.44 tonnes of CO2 equivalent split 19.5% blending energy and 80.5% extrusion (Source: Spectus Window Climate Change Levy Agreement)
UK PVC-U Systems Industry = £1.5bn = 195,000 tonnes PVC-U window profile (Derived from Fensa statistics) = 456,300 tonnes CO2 equivalent.
If every window profile sold in the UK was EcoSpec, 13% of input PVC-U energy would be saved and also 13% of blending energy when compared with a 100% virgin PVC-U product
therefore = (1.9t x 0.13) + (0.44t x 0.195 x 0.13) = 0.258 tonnes CO2 equivalent x 195,000 = 50,310 tonnes CO2 equivalent saving.
